Brantford Opera Guild

Looking for like-minded opera enthusiasts in the Brantford area? Indulge your love of the opera and support the activities of the Canadian Opera Company by joining the Brantford Guild of the COC.

Members meet regularly to learn about the upcoming COC productions and to share their love of this exciting artform.

The Brantford Guild supports COC Ensemble Studio performances in elementary schools, provide financial assistance to promising young artists and is involved in the development of our local arts scene.

Membership Benefits


The annual membership fee is $25. Become a member of the Brantford Guild and you'll get:

2011/2012 Season


The Brantford Guild's 2011/2012 season features a number of exciting events. Join us on select Monday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. at the Brantford Tourism Centre (near Highway 403 and Wayne Gretzky Parkway and reached by going through the parking area of Lynden Park Mall) for Discover Opera, an educational program consisting of six presentations a year. 

  • Monday, Sept. 19: Stratford video production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe featuring Maureen Forrester
  • Monday, Oct. 17: Leonard Rosmarin, COC Speaker's Bureau: Verdi's Rigoletto
  • Monday, Nov. 21: Tiffany Fraser, COC Stage Director
  • Monday, Jan. 16: Opera Quiz, conducted by David Cullen
  • Monday, Feb. 13: Dawn Martens, Music Teacher and Producer of Operas, featuring elementary students at Buchanan Park Elementary School in Hamilton
  • Monday, March 19: Rick Phillips, host of "Sound Advice": The Operas of Handel

The 11/12 season will also feature:

  • COC Ensemble Studio performances of opera in six elementary schools in Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties in November 2011
  • Bus Tour to Toronto on May 23, 2012 for the 7:30 p.m. performance of Handel's Semele, featuring singers from the Ensemble Studio
  • Annual General Meeting: date, place and time to be announced
  • Participation in the Brant Performing Arts 2011/2012 Season Launch at Lynden Park Mall, Brantford on Sept. 24, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
