A Whirlwind Visit

My whirlwind trip to Toronto has been a truly extraordinary experience for me and my family. I would like to thank David Ferguson and the rest of the Canadian Opera Company Board, as well as the entire COC staff, for giving me such a warm reception in Toronto. The past few days have been hectic, but I have returned to Paris with a renewed sense of excitement for what the future holds for this company.

The next few months will continue to be quite busy as I conclude my responsibilities with both the Paris and New York City operas. Beginning in the autumn, I plan to update this space on a regular basis with insights into our productions, and the singers and other artists who will be helping us stage them.

Until then, I may not have much time to post new entries. However, before I officially start my tenure on Oct. 1, I will try to get online and answer as many of your questions as time allows. Please continue to post comments or submit your questions by clicking on the link in the right-hand column.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these behind-the-scenes photographs from Wednesday’s press conference and my first meeting with the COC staff, taken by Michael Cooper.
