A Blog for Sue

This entry is dedicated to one of the most ardent readers of this blog who let me know today that I seem to be stuck at Logan International Airport in Boston for four days already. Thankfully I am not, although I was heavily delayed on my return flight because of the snow in Toronto. In any case, I much preferred the snow at the end of last week to yesterday's and today's indescribably uncomfortable drizzly rain. It's December. Snow, please!

Christmas is approaching quickly and yesterday evening we realized that we had just been to three different Christmas parties in 24 hours—a black-tie dinner on Saturday evening, a casual family lunch on Sunday, followed by an open house in the afternoon. All this between 7 p.m. and 7 p.m.

There is one more Christmas Party tomorrow and then I will be off to New York from Wednesday to Friday for my last travel of 2009. In between, we will finalize the subscription renewal and season brochure for 2010/2011. The announcement of our next season is only a bit more than one month away.

welcome to Toronto I am 68 and am so happy to have a new opera house at last. Im looking forward to perhaps a Lohengrin or Parsifal and a Tode Stadt. Please try to engage Sally Dibble and Jane Archibald, both Canadian girls and wonderful Its time to hear them on our wonderful stage. The acoustics are probably thse best in the world. I have attented many performances at the Met. Its wonderful but its not a house for the people, too big, and you have to know where to sit there. Im so glad you chose us and I heard from someone who sits next to me, who is from Germany and knows you . He said the first opera you thought of when you saw the house was Parsifal. Lets have it soon. Alan
