Sweet Enlightened Sunday

This is from a little break at Trinity Bellwoods Park after a family visit of Luminato's installation Ship O'Fools by Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller. Already last year the public art was my favourite part of the festival. I can't imagine a better way to make a point for the relevance of art in our daily lives. These installations truly transform the city.

Yesterday evening, we went to see the National Ballet's mixed program at the Four Seasons. The second part of the evening, Jerome Robbins' Op.19/The Dreamer, is one of the most beautiful and musical choreographies I have ever seen. It seemed as if Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto had been written to Robbins' choreography and not the other way, a complete unity of movement and music. Stunningly beautiful.

I was just reading your blog posts, which I always enjoy. I am surprised to see that you didn't mention who the violin soloist was in this production and the singers as Teiya Kasahara was or is part of your Ensemble program and Benjamin Bowman is your Associate Concertmaster. I saw the mixed program too - I agree with the comment about the Prokofiev but a big bravo should also be extended to the violinist as he really brought all of the colours out in his playing making it easier for the dancers to perform this beautiful work successfully.
