3-week internship beginning June 25
Youth program assistants help to co-ordinate the Canadian Opera Company’s (COC) non-auditioned Summer Youth Intensive for 13- to 18-year-olds. Tasks include but are not limited to administrative tasks, liaising with participants and educators, and assisting artist-educators with rehearsals, dramatic and music coaching as needed.
This is an unpaid internship; however, the COC will provide a weekly stipend to help cover the cost of transportation. In addition, interns will receive mentorship from experienced COC professionals and educators and receive tickets to the 2012/2013 season dress rehearsals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist COC artist-educators will rehearsals, dramatic and/or musical coaching
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed
- Attend daily meetings, offer feedback to education and staff
Ideal Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed post-secondary studies, preferably in music, drama, theatrical design and production, or a combination thereof
- Demonstrates responsibility and reliability
- Some teaching experience, ex. music lessons
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team dynamic
- Piano proficiency and musical literacy considered an asset
- First Aid and CPR certificate an asset
