Toronto – Today at the Canadian Opera Company’s Annual General Meeting, COC Board President Tony Arrell reported on the financial and artistic success of the 2012/2013 season, with the company achieving a record-breaking $10.83 million (net) in annual fundraising and posting a modest surplus of $15,000. The previous annual fundraising record for the COC was $9.9 million and achieved during the 2006/2007 season, at the time of the opening of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and the Canadian premiere of Wagner’s Ring Cycle.

Toronto – When the Canadian Opera Company’s Glencore Ensemble Studio School Tour sets
off across Ontario this fall, it will reach a wider audience than ever
before. For the first time in its 33-year history, this year’s tour
includes an opera for students in grades 7 to 12. From November 4 – December 1, 2013, a new COC school tour production of La serva padrona
by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi will be performed at middle schools and
high schools across Ontario, in addition to the popular children’s opera
The Brothers Grimm by Dean Burry, which will travel to elementary schools. Both operas are performed in English.

TORONTO, October 10, 2013 -- In an evening of epic sensory
exploration, Operanat10n: A Night of Temptation features
unique, never-before-seen artistic installations produced through
creative partnerships in the realms of fashion, visual arts and
music. This year promises to be the most lavish Operanation
party to-date with contributions from world-renowned artist Jon
Sasaki, fashion-label KAELEN and Canadian rock sensation,
the Sam Roberts Band. On October 24, this Canadian Opera
Company fundraiser commemorates its 10th anniversary, aiming
to raise over $100,000 for the COC Ensemble Studio, Canada’s
premier training program for young opera professionals.
