Canadian Opera Company's 2009/2010 Season Closes with 98% Attendance and Single-Ticket Record

Toronto, Ontario�The Canadian Opera Company is pleased to announce that its 2009/2010 season closed with an average attendance of 98% and a record 49,428 single tickets sold � the highest number in COC history for a regular subscription season.  Single tickets sold totalled over $3.9 million, while subscription tickets totalled 86,050 with gross revenue of $8.7 million, generating a total ticket-related revenue of almost $12.94 million for the entire season.  The 2009/2010 season saw 10,146 of those tickets sold to people under 30 through the company's popular Opera for a New Age (OFNA) program, presented by TD Bank Financial Group.

Some Tickets Still Available for Ben Heppner Special Solo Recital

Toronto, Ontario � A very limited number of tickets are still available for Canadian tenor Ben Heppner's solo recital with piano on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.� Accompanying Mr. Heppner is Canadian pianist and co-artistic director of Queen of Puddings Music Theatre John Hess, who works regularly with Mr. Heppner in Canada.� The repertoire for this solo concert will include music by Grieg, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky.

Mr. Heppner last performed with the COC as part of the Inaugural Gala Celebrations for the
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on June 14, 2006.

COC Music Director Johannes Debus Makes Boston Symphony Orchestra Debut Replacing James Levine at Tanglewood

Toronto, Ontario�COC Music Director, Johannes Debus, makes his Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) debut on July 23, 2010 at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center, replacing BSO Music Director James Levine. Mr. Debus conducts the BSO's concert performance of Mozart's The Abduction from Seraglio, with soloists Lisette Oropesa, Ashley Emerson, Eric Cutler, Anthony Stevenson, and Morris Robinson.

James Levine was forced to withdraw from his Tanglewood appearances this summer due to health issues. Mr. Debus joins several world-renowned conductors in replacing Mr. Levine including Michael Tilson Thomas, Christoph von Dohnányi, and Hans Graf.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra announced the changes to the Tanglewood schedule in a press release sent out earlier today.
