Ben Heppner to Perform Special Solo Recital on Sept. 11, 2010

Toronto, Ontario�The Canadian Opera Company and celebrated Canadian tenor Ben Heppner are pleased to announce that Mr. Heppner will perform a special solo recital with piano on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

The recital is free for all ticket buyers of the COC's November 7, 2009 Diamond Anniversary concert at which Mr. Heppner was to have been featured. Diamond Anniversary concert ticket buyers can redeem their same seats by contacting COC Ticket Services at 416-363-8231 by Friday, May 21, 2010. All unredeemed and available tickets will go on sale to the public Monday, May 31, 2010.

Seductive, Sultry Carmen Heats Up the COC's 2009/10 Winter Season

Toronto, Ontario�The Canadian Opera Company's Diamond Anniversary winter season opens with a COC revival of one of the world's most famous operas, Georges Bizet's Carmen. A masterpiece of lyric theatre, Carmen is a highly charged melodrama about an irresistible gypsy and her seduction of a young soldier.�

Leading the cast is renowned mezzo-soprano Beth Clayton, known for her powerful and convincing portrayal of the seductive Carmen, and tenor Bryan Hymel as Don José, the object of Carmen's desire. Mr. Hymel received rave reviews for his role as Pinkerton in this season's Madama Butterfly. Carmen is a co-production with Opéra de Montréal and San Diego Opera, and runs for 12 performances, Jan. 27, 30, Feb. 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, and 27, 2010 and is sung in French with English SURTITLES�.

The COC's 2009/10 Winter Season Continues with Verdi's Tragic Tale of Obsession and Jealousy: Otello

Toronto, Ontario�The Canadian Opera Company's 2009/10 winter season continues with one of the greatest tragic operas of all time, Giuseppe Verdi's Otello, starring renowned American tenor Clifton Forbis. This powerful production is directed by Paul Curran (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Tosca) and conducted by Paolo Olmi (Don Carlos). Otello is a new COC co-production with Welsh National Opera and runs Feb. 3, 6, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25 and 28, 2010 and is sung in Italian with English SURTITLES�.
