Toronto – The Canadian Opera Company has closed another successful opera season by recording an average attendance of 90% for 2012/2013. A total of 114,133 patrons attended the 61 performances of the company’s seven mainstage productions this season in the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts: Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Richard Strauss’s Salome and Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites.

Toronto – On May 1, 2013, English National Opera announced that its Canadian Opera Company co-productions of Die Fledermaus and Rigoletto will be featured in their 2013/2014 season. These new productions of Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto premiered at the COC in recent seasons and are staged by director Christopher Alden.
Toronto – Alexander Neef, General Director of the Canadian Opera Company, announced today two new senior staff positions: Director of Production and Chief Advancement Officer. Peter W. Lamb has been hired as Director of Production, and Christie Darville, the COC’s current Director of Development, has been promoted to Chief Advancement Officer. The two new positions reflect the increased emphasis the COC is placing on both its artistic output and fundraising efforts.
