The process of auditioning new young artists for the Ensemble Studio has so far been relatively private (if broad, with auditions taking place in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and New York). That's about to change: this November, you'll have the chance to see the final stage of the audition process for yourself. All the finalists (between 10 and 15 of them) will perform in the inaugural COC Ensemble Studio Competition in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre this November, and a select few will be offered admittance to the program.
The judges will be Alexander Neef, our General Director; Roberto Mauro, our Artistic Administrator; Sandra Gavinchuk, our Music Administrator; and Liz Upchurch, the Head of the Ensemble Studio. After all the finalists have sung, judges will deliberate and announce the winners – and the audience will then be free to argue with their friends about whether they'd have picked the same singers!
The competition will take place November 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. If you're Facebook-inclined, here's the event.
