Adrianne Pieczonka on Tosca

Adrianne Pieczonka, the Toronto soprano who most recently entranced COC audiences as Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, will soon be taking on one of opera's most quintessential "diva" roles: Floria Tosca. In this video trailer, she talks about what makes the role of Tosca exciting for her – and which dramatic moment she found unsettling to perform.

Note: production photos and footage are from the COC's 2008 production of Tosca, also returning to our stage.

I agree completel with your analysis of Tosca, Adrianne. She is very mercurial and excells in role playing. I would go even further than you do and say that she is always putting on a show. But I also agree with you that her "performances" reflect her flamboyant character and, consequently, her authenticity.
