The Glencore Ensemble Studio School Tour brings a one-act opera to your school! For over 30 years, the Ensemble Studio School Tour has inspired and delighted students all across Ontario. With operas adapted, or created specifically, for young audiences, the Ensemble performs in full costume with sets, props and piano accompaniment. The operas are performed in English and an informal question-and-answer period with the cast immediately follows each performance.

Dates: November 9 to December 6, 2015

Location: School auditoriums, community centres and community theatres
Audience Size/Grades: Up to 300 students

The Bremen Town Musicians (DEAN Burry), Grades K – 6

Based on a tale by the Brothers Grimm, a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster set out on a journey to find freedom and start a new life after being mistreated by their owners. On the way, they learn about forgiveness, friendship, respect, self-confidence, and find a new home in an unexpected place. A funny and heartfelt tale, The Bremen Town Musicians ties in with your classroom studies in fairy tales and literature, with some important life lessons. This one-act opera by Canadian composer Dean Burry will be sung in English.

This interactive show empowers students to identify their strengths and character traits that they are most proud of, or what we call "superpowers", and encourages them to nurture these powers and use them to help others. The accompanying study guide offers engaging pre- and post-performance activities focused on character development and literacy and music curricula for students in Kindergarten and primary grades.
