Opera is for everyone, and whether you’re an experienced music teacher, a new second-grade teacher, a high school drama teacher or anyone in between, we’d love to teach you about bringing opera to your students by giving you a night at the opera, on us! From private backstage tours to interactive workshops, educators get an engaging introduction to the art form, connect with other educators, and take new resources back to the classroom. Each teacher is invited to stay for the dress rehearsal of the opera immediately following the PD session.

Focus: Get your classroom singing!  Monday, October 6, 2014.
Workshop: 6:30 p.m.     
Madama Butterfly Dress Rehearsal: 7:30 p.m. 

Everyone can sing! This workshop will explore how you can include operatic and vocal activities in your everyday classroom, even if you don’t consider yourself a strong singer. Take home a lesson plan full of activities that you can use as part of your music curriculum or to encourage creativity and engagement in other parts of your classroom practice.

Focus: Design in Opera Wednesday, April 15, 2015
Workshop: 6:30 p.m.     
The Barber of Seville Dress Rehearsal: 7:30 p.m.

This workshop will focus on exploring opera through a visual arts lens. Meet a designer, take home a lesson plan for a practical project, and discuss how a visit to the opera can lead to further explorations of art and design in the performing arts. Afterwards, attend the dress rehearsal of our colourful production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.
