View the photos from the COC's 2005 production of Carmen.
In her Habanera, Carmen sings of the elusive nature of love which is as free as a bird and as wayward as a gypsy.
Don Jose’s hometown sweetheart Micaëla has come with a message from his mother and together, they share fond memories of their home.
Having slashed the face of a fellow cigarette factory worker, Carmen is arrested and left in Don José’s charge. He forbids her to speak, so instead, she impudently sings a seductive Seguidilla, inviting him to spend an evening with her at Lillas Pastia’s tavern.
Carmen’s smuggler companions doubt that Don José will join her when he is released from prison, and mock their friend when she professes to love him.
After she confesses that the bullfighter, Escamillo is her new lover, Don José finally realizes that Carmen no longer loves him, and stabs her.
