Opening Night; Almost a Pantless Pinkerton!!

David Pomeroy & Adina Nitescu. Photo: Michael Cooper I'm writing this entry a few days after opening night. As I remember back, It's 7:25 p.m. on opening, my white naval pants were having last minute alterations and are nowhere to be seen. OMG! It seems as though they're somewhere in a taxi between COC on Front Street and the Four Seasons Centre. That makes the minutes go by like hours.

Dress Rehearsal

Well, last night was final dress rehearsal. It was a very good run through and everyone is excited for the opening on Saturday night.

I have to say as I get well into my 30th performance or so of Pinkerton, I am still finding new things in both the characterization and music. Things I can always make better by digging a little deeper. It's great to be so familiar with a role that it allows me to search for these new things. I did feel great last night and was in good form.

Orcha 2

/images/performances/butterflyblog0919.jpg

Last night was a complete run of Acts 2 and 3 with orcha. As I only sing for about eight minutes in Act 3, it was a pretty quiet rehearsal. Pinkerton does the brunt of his work in Act 1 and it's definitely his time to shine.

I spent time with the costume department making final adjustments to my naval uniform. It fits well and looks great.

Added to the gallery are two pics—one of me studying my score in my dressing room at the Four Seasons Centre, and the other is a pic from the top of the Escarpment with a great  view of Toronto. This is what I see when driving in from Orangeville every day.

Anyway, today is a day off so I'm relaxing at home with my family. Tomorrow is Orcha 3 and will be a full run through with costumes, wigs and make-up.
