"Una volta c’era un re"

Connection to the Story: To cheer herself up, Cenerentola sings a little song about a king looking for a wife who finally settles for a kind and loving heart in preference to beauty, wealth and glamour.

"Un soave non so che"

Connection to the Story: The Prince, Don Ramiro, enters Don Magnifico’s household disguised as his own valet where his mentor, Alidoro has told him he will find a model of warm-heartedness and beauty. He is instantly attracted to Cenerentola.

"Ah! se velata ancor… "

Connection to the Story: The chorus announces the arrival of Cenerentola at the ball and she in turn offers herself as wife only to one who will give her respect, love and kindness.

"Questo è un nodo avviluppato"

Connection to the Story: Having tracked her down after the ball, the Prince recognizes that Cenerentola and the mysterious veiled woman are one and the same. Cenerentola is disconcerted to note that her “Valet” is in fact the Prince, and the universal bewilderment is expressed in this ensemble.

"Non più mesta"

Connection to the Story: With the past behind her, Cenerentola forgives her family and dwells on her new-found happiness.
