Lawrence Brownlee


American tenor Lawrence Brownlee makes his COC debut as Prince Ramiro. In 2010, Mr. Brownlee took on Elvino in La Sonnambula for the first time at Theatre St. Gallen and made his debut at Opéra national de Paris as Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri, which also served as his Opéra de Lausanne debut. 2011 began at Seattle Opera as Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia followed by a reprise of his Rinaldo in Armida opposite Renée Fleming at the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Brownlee’s season continues at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin (Almaviva), followed by a program of bel canto arias at Copenhagen’s Tivoli Concert Hall and ends in Italy at Teatro alla Scala (Lindoro) and with a debut at the Arena di Verona (Almaviva). 2009/2010 engagements included Almaviva to open the Washington National Opera’s season, Mayr’s Medea in Corinto in St. Gallen, and the previously mentioned Armida in its first production on the Met stage, transmitted in HD and recently released on DVD by Deutsche Grammophon. Recent recordings include Rossini’s Stabat Mater for EMI and DG’s DVD of the 2009 Met production of La Cenerentola.
