Our popular Inside Opera video series is back, and this time we go behind the scenes of Christopher Alden's production of Mozart's late-masterpiece, La clemenza di Tito.
In the first video, Inside Opera catches up with Isabel Leonard. This production marks the Metropolitan Opera star's role debut as Sesto and we met up with the mezzo-soprano during a costume fitting. Watch as she shares her thoughts on the motivations and emotions of the troubled character, and how she relates to a character caught in such turmoil.
The second video in the series features a rare peek at the Canadian Opera Company orchestra pit! Watch as we catch La clemenza di Tito conductor Daniel Cohen in action, and interview principal clarinet James T. Shields, and trumpet player Robert Weymouth, about their thoughts on the music of La clemenza di Tito.
The final Inside Opera video for La clemenza di Tito features Ensemble Studio member Rihab Chaieb who plays the role of Sesto in the special Ensemble Studio performance on February 6. Watch Rihab talk about the Ensemble Studio and rehearse with her Vitellia, Ambur Braid.
