Wirth Vocal Prize Showcase
Equally adept at operatic and concert repertoire, mezzo-soprano Simone McIntosh is a star on the rise.  Winner of both the 2016/2017 Wirth Vocal Prize at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University and the COC’s 2016 Ensemble Studio Competition, she showcases her musicality and brilliant mezzo voice.

Top jazz students join acclaimed trumpet player and Schulich School of Music professor Kevin Dean in a program of original compositions. Built on a foundation of beloved standards, this intimate jazz combo will bring a je ne sais quoi to your lunch hour and put a little swing in your step.

The Golden Hour
Established in 2006, the prestigious Golden Violin Prize honours the extraordinary achievements of the string department at the Schulich School of Music. Multi-talented cellist Joshua Morris has been accumulating numerous awards as both a soloist and as a chamber musician, now adding the 2016/2017 Golden Violin Prize to the ever-growing list. This remarkable young man enthrals with his natural ability and exquisite tone.

Vesuvius Ensemble
Christmas in Southern Italy
The Vesuvius Ensemble (Francesco Pellegrino, tenor and chitarra battente; Marco Cera, baroque guitar, mandolino and ciaramella; and Lucas Harris, baroque guitar and theorbo) is dedicated to the performance and preservation of traditional folk music from Naples and Southern Italy. In this special performance, they celebrate the Christmas season with warm and passionate folk songs from the region.

Called "a force to be reckoned with in Toronto and Canada's musical/operatic scene" (The Globe and Mail), Against the Grain Theatre continues its bold exploration of composers and their works with Bound, the first year of a 3-year project that places George Frideric Handel's music in a contemporary setting and sound.
