Martinů and Korngold
Artists of the COC Orchestra perform two contrasting chamber works: Martinů’s Three Madrigals for violin and viola, and Korngold’s String Sextet in D major, Op. 10, a piece filled with romantic melodies, rich textures, and distinctive personal style.

Hailed as “Canada’s emerging Latin Music Queen” (680 News), award-winning singer/songwriter Eliana Cuevas performs a unique blend of Latin jazz with her signature soaring vocals. Backed by her stellar four-piece band, she will include fresh songs from her newest album Golpes y Flores, which blends jazz and Afro-Venezuelan rhythms creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

The English Violin
International award-winning, London-based violinist Benjamin Baker and his duo partner Daniel Lebhardt perform two wartime masterpieces of the violin repertory. The Elgar Sonata is a heart-wrenching reflection on the atrocities of World War I while the Britten Suite characterizes the composer's more youthful outlook pre-World War II.

Interpretations of Love
Proclaimed a “gifted young tenor” (New York Times), Joshua Guerrero makes his Canadian and COC debut as The Duke of Mantua in the COC’s Rigoletto. In this solo recital, he demonstrates his youthful charisma and rich tone while exploring different interpretations of love songs.

The COC Orchestra Academy is an opera-focused mentorship program that offers talented young instrumentalists exposure to world-class opera productions under the mentorship of professional musicians in the COC Orchestra. In this special concert, members of the Academy perform alongside their mentors in a program featuring artists from the COC Ensemble Studio.
