Given a continued surge of Omicron transmission across Ontario, the Canadian Opera Company is cancelling all live-audience performances of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly for the 2021/2022 season.
“It’s clear that cancelling in-person performances is the most responsible course of action at this time,” says COC General Director Perryn Leech. “The safety of our audiences, artists, and staff remains our absolute top priority."
If you are currently a 2021/2022 subscriber, stay tuned for further updates. At this time, you are eligible to:
- Donate your tickets back for a tax receipt
- Exchange your tickets into one of the COC’s upcoming productions of Verdi’s La Traviata or Mozart’s The Magic Flute
- Have your COC patron account credited with the value of their tickets, to be used toward 21/22 single tickets or the purchase of a 22/23 season subscription
- Receive a full refund
To exercise one of these options, click here, or contact our Ticket Services team at [email protected] or by phone at (416) 363-8231. We kindly request your decision in this matter by Friday, February 25, 2022
Please note that no further 2021/2022 in-person productions have been cancelled and all subscription tickets to La Traviata and The Magic Flute are still valid.
If you are not currently subscribed, we will continue to share further updates on La Traviata and The Magic Flute single ticket availability, capacity limits, and health and safety policies as soon as we are able to do so.
Thank you, COC community, for your continued patience as we all look forward to reopening the opera house doors and enjoying a safe return to the stage.
