
Christie Darville
Christie Darville is Deputy General Director and Executive Director of Philanthropy & Audiences with the Canadian Opera Company. She is a well-established leader in Canada’s not-for-profit sector with a particular expertise in stewardship and fundraising, strategic business planning, and cultivating both corporate and community-rooted partnerships.
Christie oversees all audience interaction opportunities, from awareness-building to Board relations. She is responsible not only for all fundraising revenue but also the company’s earned revenue through ticket and subscription sales.
Over her past 10 years with the COC, Christie has brought contributed revenue to record levels. She has spearheaded a number of significant projects including the creation of the company’s annual Centre Stage Gala, a signature fundraiser in support of the COC’s Ensemble Studio training program for young artists. Very recently, she successfully executed an ambitious plan to merge the company’s revenue-generating departments into a cross-functional team that collaborates on all goals and strategies pertaining to philanthropy and audiences.
Previously, Christie served as Associate Director of Development, Faculty of Arts & Science with the University of Toronto, where she led the development and implementation of current and deferred major gift fundraising programs, overseeing all major gift activity, annual giving and research portfolios, as well as focused, unit-based development.
Christie graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
