The Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre is back! Our 2017/2018 season begins on September 26, 2017 with a performance by the rising stars of the COC Ensemble Studio. Join over 400 artists from Canada and around the world, from headlining stars to emerging young talent, to celebrate Toronto’s rich artistic and cultural diversity in 76 concerts across six series—vocal, chamber, piano, dance, jazz and world music.

Is there a better time of year than spring to experience the freshest voices and brightest rising stars of Canadian opera? This April and May, there are plenty of opportunities to hear the young artists of the COC Ensemble Studio in performance, as well as one of its notable graduates, as part of the Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre.

On February 13, the rising stars of the Ensemble Studio competed in the fourth biennial Christina and Louis Quilico Awards. The singers were accompanied by Ensemble Studio pianists/intern coaches Hyejin Kwon and Stéphane Mayer, and the evening was judged by COC General Director Alexander Neef, COC Chorus Master Sandra Horst, and internationally acclaimed soprano Adrianne Pieczonka. Mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo and soprano Danika Lorèn shared the top prize, taking home $4,000 each, while tenor Charles Sy won $2,000. The event took place in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts as a part of the Free Concert Series.
