Summer Opera Intensive
The 2025 Summer Opera Intensive cohort is here!
The Summer Opera Intensive celebrates another successful cohort of musicians invited to the COC this upcoming August. After careful review by Johannes Debus, COC Music Director, and Makenzie Morgan, Director of Community Partnerships & Programs, 10 singers and two collaborative pianists have been selected from 120 applications to participate in this year’s Summer Opera Intensive.
This packed, one-week program will be held in person at the Canadian Opera Company rehearsal spaces from Monday, August 11 to Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The Summer Opera Intensive is a tuition-free program that invites advanced singers and collaborative pianists pursuing a career in performance to experience training of the highest quality, including individualised assessments that take on a holistic approach—fully considering participant artistic goals, creative interests, and musical experience.
In addition to daily group classes and discussions, participants will receive private coaching in voice or collaborative piano techniques, drama, performance kinetics, and lyric diction. Hotel accommodation costs for successful applicants are also provided.
This program is designed to provide a framework for young artists to learn about the many facets of a professional career, equipping participants with the necessary skills and information to succeed in today’s rapidly changing industry.
