Subscribers play a critical role in our artistic mission to deliver the highest quality opera to our audiences. In recognition of this support, we thank our subscribers with a number of exclusive benefits:
The loyalty of our subscribers helps us plan our future artistic programming; in return, they receive the very best ticket prices possible.
They can also purchase additional tickets for family, friends, or colleagues, at subscriber-exclusive prices, and they receive access to these single tickets ahead of the general public. Subscribers who support the COC with a charitable donation receive even earlier access to tickets.
To help keep opera accessible, we also offer special pricing on Senior (65+), Opera Under 30 (16-29), and Young Person (15 and under) subscriptions.
FREE OR LOW-COST TICKET EXCHANGES
While subscriptions are structured around specific performance dates, they can exchange tickets if their schedule changes. Ticket exchanges are fee-free for Premier subscribers and low-fee for all other subscribers.
Alternatively, subscribers can transfer tickets to a lucky friend, family member, or colleague, free-of-charge.
TICKET RETURNS FOR CHARITABLE TAX RECEIPTS
Since we’re a cultural charity, subscribers can also return unused tickets for a charitable tax receipt (as long as we receive one business days’ notice before the performance). The forms to exchange, transfer or return tickets at located at the bottom of this page.
THE BEST SEATS
Since subscribers have committed to a multi-opera experience, they receive priority seating. That means our Ticket Services team assign their seats over the summer before the general public gets access to tickets. Premier subscribers can even renew their same seats year-over-year.
DEDICATED CUSTOMER SERVICE
Opera simply can’t exist without an audience. In recognition of this central importance, the COC houses all of our public-facing teams, from ticketing to donations to media relations, under one departmental roof: Philanthropy & Audiences.
The Ticket Services branch of this team is always more than happy to answer any subscription questions. They can be reached at 416-363-8231 (toll-free in Canada and the U.S. at 1-800-250-4653) or email@example.com. They are also the go-to resource for ticket exchanges and any additional purchases.
Their hours vary a bit by season, but the phone lines are generally open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SURPRISE AND DELIGHT
In a more artistic vein, we put great care and consideration into each season’s set of operas. Taking in a season as a holistic experience deepens the experience of the art form and it can surprise and delight in unexpected ways. The New York Times recently called us “one of the most interesting opera houses in North America,” and that’s truly a reflection of our passionate community of artists and audiences: who are ready for the challenge of something new, invested in unique experiences, and open to exploring how opera can transcend boundaries as an art form for the here and now.

HOW TO EXCHANGE
Subject to availability, tickets may be exchanged for another performance date of the same opera. Exchange requests must be received by the COC at least one business day prior to the original performance date. Exchanges are free for Premier subscribers. All Pick, Flexible and individual ticket exchanges are subject to a per-ticket service charge.
To exchange tickets, complete the exchange request form below or call 416-363-8231 during regular business hours.
HOW TO TRANSFER A TICKET
If you are unable to attend a performance and wish to transfer your seats to a friend, the COC now offers no-cost online ticket transfers, available up to two hours before a performance. Simply complete the online form, including your account details and the name and email address of the individual you wish to transfer your tickets to, and we will complete your request and email them digital print-at-home tickets. Once confirmed, please destroy your original tickets as they will be void. Remember, the COC must receive your transfer request at least two hours prior to the performance time, and transferred tickets cannot be subsequently returned for a tax receipt.
HOW TO RETURN TICKETS FOR A CHARITABLE TAX RECEIPT
If you are unable to exchange or transfer your subscription tickets, as a charitable organization, the COC can issue the purchaser a tax receipt for the face value of the tickets. Tax Receipts must be arranged one business day prior to your scheduled performance – past performance tickets cannot be returned for a tax receipt – and there are no refunds. Ticket returns cannot be used towards member programs, and Flexible subscription and individual tickets are not eligible.
