Instrumental Series

A shared love of form and clarity unites Mozart and Ravel, but so does the unmistakable light in their music: transparent, resplendent, and touched with youthful grace.

Mozart’s K.575, written for the King of Prussia, glows with noble elegance and conversational ease, especially between the first violin and the cello. Ravel’s Quartet in F, though harmonically adventurous, reflects the same balance, precision, and reverence for the quartet tradition shaped by Haydn and Mozart. In their own voices, both composers show how classical ideals can inspire freedom and how structure can radiate with life. String quartet Quatuor Agate makes their Free Concert Series debut as part of their North American tour with the Young Classical Artists Trust (UK).
